THE ROUTE TO SECTION 664 – THE ANSWER NO ONE EVER HEARD OF
Education is the answer to all our problems, and that’s not a cliché, it’s a fact. The better educated a society we become the better the odds are of our survival as a species. Thus it compels us to face the inevitable necessity of drastic reform in the United States of America. Our nation is already facing the worst financial crisis looming over America’s future since the Great Depression; college debt and federal aid only make matters much worse. But how is it that in my own four years of college, I was never once taught even the basics of America’s Internal Revenue Code and the potential game changing solutions its policies present for our national debt crisis? Yet my situation is very similar to that of almost every American from generations X, Y and Z. There is a lack of financial literacy education in our schools and universities. I learned from Les Winston of the Endow America Network Foundation, who drew my attention to section 664 of the IRC that there is already a real solution to America’s financial problems…. he has coined the phrase Social Secharity to explain it.
It’s a play on words, combining the concept of Social Security with Charity. Social Security, however, we know is rapidly falling short and many Americans including myself, realize that there will be nothing left of the 1934 program which was only designed to solve the problems of two or three generations. We have long since passed that, and so arises the need for Social Secharity. Basically, instead of part of your paycheck going into an SSI account, and the government keeping those funds anyway, you would open up a Social Secharity trust. The money you put in accumulates over the course of your life, and you choose the cause you want your hard- earned tax dollars to support when you pass away. Besides earning you considerable tax deductions and annual income, among other benefits, when enough Americans participate in this program, it will result in the eventual endowment of America’snon profits, thereby reducing or eliminating their reliance so much on government grants while focusing more on the causes for which they were founded. When that happens, the entire country will benefit because taxes will dramatically decrease.
An estimate of $1 trillion is funded by the Federal Government in support of community and social services annually. Using an average rate of return of just over 3%, $30 trillion in endowments would be needed to replace government aid. As of 2020, about $1.8 trillion in endowments is currently held by all of America’s charitable programs. If we were to combine elements of both voluntary Social Secharity and then implement mandatory Social Secharity for high school graduates over the age of 18, we could effectively reduce our near $30 trillion national debt, by a whopping $28 trillion by 2050, resulting in our having rescued and secured America’s economy for our children and grandchildren. It’s really not impossible, in fact it is quite an achievable endeavor, but we have to take action now to educate all Americans about Section 664. Generations X, Y and Z have been woefully uninformed. It’s time to educate ourselves to leave a better society for our children and their future.
